Aristides M. Machado Rodrigues (AMR) is a member of the Research Centre for Anthropology and Health and Invited Professor of the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu as well as the Faculty of Sport Sciences of the University of Coimbra.

Machado-Rodrigues qualified in Sport Sciences at the University of Coimbra in a 5-year diploma, and he has an MSc in Motor Development from the same University. During his PhD on Physical Activity and Health, which was finished in a pre-Bologna standard, he was collaborating with researchers from the School for Health at the University of Bath [United Kingdom] and the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Groningen [The Netherlands]. He has developed his research activity with close participation of members of the Tarleton State University [Texas, USA], Michigan State University [USA], University of Bath [England], Londrina State University [Brazil] and the University of Saskatchewan [Canada], among others.

Teaching

AMR has been invited for several lectures in post-graduate programs at the University of Coimbra [e.g., PhD in Sport Sciences – Physical activity and Health issues; Master in Leisure and Local Development; Master in Organized Sport for Children and Youth; Master in Leisure and Local Development; Master in physical activity and Public Health; and Master of Physical Activity and Pedagogy].

AMR has published several scientific articles, particularly in peer-reviewed journals with impact factor such as in The Lancet, Nature, Preventive Medicine, BMC Public Health, American Journal of Human Biology, Journal of Sport Sciences, Annals of Human Biology, Journal of Physical Activity and Health, Pediatric Exercise Science, Journal of School Health, PlosOne, Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports or Health Promotion International journal (Oxford University Press), among others.
