Abstract: This project focuses on the problematic of neoplasms in past populations and the biocultural perspectives to their understanding. Through the study of the Human Identified Skeleton Collections from the Museu Bocage, MNHN, Lisbon and from the Department of Life Sciences, University of Coimbra, we intent to analyze the bone lesions produced by neoplastic conditions and to improve methodological tools. This project aims to contribute to crucial debate on the antiquity and evolution of oncological diseases.
