Abstract: This study aims at developing a reliable method for probing diagenetic alterations in human bones upon burning events, by INS spectroscopy. The results will be coupled to Raman and FTIR data (obtained concomitantly), with a view to better understand heat-induced changes in bone, thus providing a way to estimate their effect on the metric dimensions of human skeletal remains.
