I work in the History Division of the Center for the Economic Research and Teaching, in Mexico City. I will be visiting the Research Cluster “Technoscience, Society and Environment” at CIAS from July 21 to September 21, 2025. My research focuses on Dungans, Muslims who speak a sinitic language and who were expelled from the Qing Empire in the nineteenth century to reach the Romanov Empire and stay in Central Asia until now. I am an author / publisher of several books including “Pertenencias múltiples, identidades cruzadas: nuevas perspectivas sobre Asia central” (El Colegio de Mexico, 2017) and “Pensamiento Social Ruso sobre América Latina” (CLACSO, 2017). I will be working on the manuscript of the book “The Dragon Archipelago. Central Asian Dungans Between Sino-Russophone Worlds.”
