The Center for Research in Anthropology and Health (CIAS) at the University of Coimbra, in Portugal, has a long history of studies with biological and cultural anthropology, which strengthens the purpose of this research on the conservation of an endemic and critically endangered primate species in city of Manaus (Amazonas, Brazil). CIAS has strong research groups in the area of Biological Sciences, Human and Social Sciences, such as the Technoscience, Society and Environment research group in which this post-doctorate is being developed, and it is believed that the exchange of methodological and analytical experiences, complemented by the biological knowledge accumulated about the primate species (Saguinus bicolor) over these years, will provide key information that will contribute to the conservation of this species in urban fragments of the city of Manaus. Aligned with the main objectives of this proposal, which has as its main focus building solid and long-term research on ethnoprimatology research methods, aiming at the conservation of Amazonian primates, with collaboration with the State University of Amazonas, in this post-doctoral internship, an extremely relevant partnership, since the researcher already has extensive experience in primatology, in the study of ecology, behavior and biodiversity conservation. Added to the wealth of knowledge on the part of the supervisor, Dr. Catarina Casanova, in the area of Anthropology, especially in the issues of ethnoprimatology, and in the conservation of non-human primate species, it can contribute to the exchange of experiences between the Amazonian researcher and the researchers of the CIAS research groups.
