Trained as a political anthropologist and ethnographer, Bilge Firat investigates access and accountability through the corridors of power. She is currently writing a tale of the post-Soviet makings of fossil gas geopolitics, infrastructure development (markets, physical pipelines, and regulation), and cultures of expertise across Europe/Eurasia. Taking to its ethnographic focus the Southern Gas Corridor, the book argues that culture plays a far more significant role in energy diplomacy and cross-border infrastructure development than is commonly acknowledged.
