André Valécio is a collaborating Researcher at the Research Centre for Anthropology and Health (CIAS), where he is part of the research group “Technoscience, Society, and Environment” at the University of Coimbra. Previously, he held positions as a professor and researcher at the University of Science and Technology, as well as at the Regional Faculty of Bahia, Brazil, and also coordinated the research group NEPEDH – Center for Studies in Psychology and Human Development. His academic journey included participation in the José Bonifácio chair, through the Ibero-American Center and the Institute of International Relations at the University of São Paulo, and contributed to the development of a study on Crises: a multidisciplinary perspective, culminating in the publication of a collaborative work between the University of São Paulo, the University of Campinas, and the Free University of Brussels. He graduated in Psychology, obtained a master’s degree in Human Ecology and Socio-environmental Management from the State University of Bahia-UNEB (2012), and in Ethnology and social Anthropology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales-EHESS/Paris (2020). PhD in psychology from the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences, and Letters of Ribeirão Preto – University of São Paulo-USP (2019), he performed a research period at the College de France/EHESS. Since 2023, he is post-doctor in Human Rights and Politics at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra.

The main topics of his investigations include Indigenous and Peoples of Santo Cosmopolitics, human rights of traditional communities in Latin America, and the law and protection of multiple ecological systems facing ecological and social disaster.
