I am a fourth-year PhD candidate at the Academia Copernicana Interdisciplinary Doctoral School, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland. My dissertation focuses on intercultural communication and workplace relations, particularly the experiences of Chinese self-initiated expatriates. My research stay at CIAS – Research Centre for Anthropology and Health (Research Group “Technoscience, Society and Environment”) provided an invaluable opportunity to broaden my perspective beyond the Sino-Polish context. Portugal’s culturally diverse environment, particularly the growing presence of Chinese expatriates, offered a rich setting to observe how employees negotiate cultural differences in practice. Engaging with CIAS scholars and receiving insightful guidance from professors further expanded my academic vision and strengthened the theoretical foundation of my work. This experience not only enriched my comparative understanding of intercultural workplaces but also opened new directions for future collaboration and research.
