Néstor Hernández Canales

I am an anthropologist who graduated from the University of Concepción in the Bio Bio Region of Chile, with a degree in Physical Anthropology. Throughout my academic journey, I acquired comprehensive knowledge in areas such as Economy Anthropology, Political Anthropology, Archaeology, and the Prehistory of Chile. With a focus on Biological Anthropology, I underwent specialized training in Human Osteology, enabling me to apply this expertise to different contexts both current (forensic) and past (archaeological). In 2018 I came to Portugal to do a postgraduate degree in forensic anthropology and since 2019, I am doing a PhD program in Biological Anthropology at the University of Coimbra, supported by the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID) (Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo in spanish) of the Chilean Government.  The main focus of my PhD is the study of the dental morphology of the Christians and Islamic populations during the medieval to modern period of the Iberian Peninsula.
