Célia Lopes concluded her Ph.D. in Biological Anthropology at the University Coimbra in 2014. Currently, she is carrying out her post-doc research funded by FCT (SFRH/BPD/117128/2016) at the Laboratory of Biological Anthropology at the Department of Biology, University of Évora. Her research is focused on paleopathology, with an emphasis on infectious pathology, from a bio-cultural perspective, and combining the study of skeletons with historical, cemeteries, and archival hospital records. She is currently undertaking the research and curation of the collection of identified skeletons from Évora. Her work includes historical and archival research, focusing mainly on analyzing clinical files in the hospitals of Évora. She is currently proceeding with the 3D scanning of the most relevant pathological cases of the collection for further dissemination and study. She is also interested in the topic of dissemination in science by regularly participating in science fairs and thematic dates; she often goes to schools to teach some basics of Biological Anthropology. Participates annually in activities such as “European Researcher’s Night” or “Évora Summer School.”
