Abstract: The explorations of aspects related to the health of human populations of the past in Southern Patagonia from an ecological-evolutionary and biocultural point of view were initiated during the last decades. The general objective of this project is to discuss the population and adaptation models of the human societies of Southern Patagonia during the Holocene, through the study of health and disease of human remains, from a paleopathological approach, from the analysis of bone evidence and dental, and from the study of biodistance and mortality profiles generated with osteological samples from the region. Excavated skeletal remains will be studied that have contextual information and that allow the analysis of the spatio-temporal variability of pathological lesions together for Southern Patagonia, associated with the biological and cultural characteristics that have been proposed for human populations That inhabited that region. The results achieved will also be contrasted with the data previously reported for hunter-gatherer groups from other regions of Argentina, specifically from the Pampas region and the Pampa-Patagonia eco-region.
